My daughter is 2 years old and still will not eat hardly any table foods. No chicken nuggets, cheese, pb&j, hotdogs, NOTHING!!! her diet consists of crackers, yogurt, grapes, and other little snacky foods. We have been giving her V8 Fusion to get her fruits & veggies. We also give her Carnation Instant Breakfast in her milk to give her the vitamins/calories she needs. The doctors keep telling me she will grow out of it and eventually she will come through. They also suggested to only give her things she NEEDS to eat and not things that she will eat ( crackers, etc. ). I have tried this also and as stubborn as she is, she will not eat it and just go without. The doctors said that she will not starve herself and she will eventually eat it if she's hungry enough. I try to stay positive and believe this, but seeing her fight and cry at EVERY meal is beginning to take it's toll. Being a mother I of course feel there is something I have done for her to be this way. I am hoping there are other mothers out there with children doing the same thing and if they have any advice. My daughter is actually a healthy girl, just small and VERY PICKY!!! any mothers out there with some comfort and/or advice on the subject would be doing me a great deal of help! Thank you so much!!

My son is very picky too and just last night i was cutting up a little meat for his plate(which Is the hardest thing to get him to eat) and I didn't really pay any attention to the fact that i was cutting them into shapes, which is something he is learning about and pretty familiar with. Well He yells out square....rectangle....and he's all excited, so I went right along with him and tried to encourage his interest. It worked like a charm...he ate all his meat and wanted more. Then when it came to the corn(which I usually dont have a problem getting him to eat; howver this time I had over cooked it and it was mushy!) I simply identified it a "Little yellow squares"...and gulp...down the hatch went the corn !!!!!!!!! Also I would suggest letters and numbers or using cookie cutters for shapes or u can just cut the food into smaller shapes yourself if u want. Around this age is when a lot of kids are learning letters of the alphabet, numbers, colors and shapes.....so try to make meals fun and interesting to them....whatever is most appealing to them. Good Luck....I really think I've hit the jackpot here this time.

Mine is doing the same thing right now. I am not worried about it as he is eating some, no not like what he used to, but no child will starve themselves. I wouldn't worry about it, really. I agree with the doctor- she will eat eventually.OH also I don't make our son stay in his chair while WE eat, he has to eat what he wants and if he wants down then he can but he is to no bug us while we eat. It will get better:)
