I know this is going to sound crazy but a professional piercing or piercing/tattoo shop. A good tattoo shop holds the same standards of cleanliness as a dr office

Victoria, My pediatrician will pierce baby's ears. She is originally from India, and my understanding is that it's a Hindu custom, so she offers that service. I don't think you would have to be Hindu to get your baby's ears pierced. You can search for doctors in your area that may have more traditional Indian names and they may be able to help you.
I think this sounds strange, but I'm not trying to sterotype, I just know that is a possibility.

You clearly can't read tongue in cheek......and even the OP marked my post helpful, so maybe you need to come down off the high horse? Honestly, Chet, there was nothing in my post that was inaccurate. I didn't say "doctor's office's don't pierce ears because babies shouldn't get their ears pierced". They are YOUR words, not mine. You can interpret it any way you choose. But please don't then tell me I can't post what I said and put words in my mouth that I didn't use, nor meaning I didn't intend. If you don't get it, fine. I don't particularly care. This is not your conversation. But I care that you seem to have taken it upon yourself to make some major fucking deal over it when it doesn't need to be that way. The only person here taking it totally off topic is YOU.

Oh for goodness sake, Chet, panties in a bunch, much? I made a comment. The OP has the right to choose to ignore it if she likes. As do you. Just as I have a right to make a comment. Let's leave it at that, shall we?

Maybe the fact that the doctor's office won't do it is a sign that you should wait until she can decide for herself......

I didn't pierce my daughters ears. I found it unnecessary. Give her a bow, or something.

I have twin girls, and when they were one, I had theirs done. I went through a Piercing Pagoda place that was in our mall. I called ahead of time to see when two employees would be working in order to do both ears at the same time. It was perfect!

Oops! I didn't notice you posted five days ago. Well by this coming Thursday I meant 8/22/13. Regardless, google medical piercing.

I'm also getting my daughter's ears pierced this coming Thursday. I googled medical piercing and their clinic came up. It's in Brooklyn. It's Devito & Alvarado Pediatrics. They charge $50.

ask her pediatrician if she can do it. I got my daughter's ears done by her pediatrician at 3 1/2 months.

I did my kids ears at 3 n 4 months. 3 months is the minimum age they will do it at where Im from. It was great because it was at an age where she wouldn't touch her ears to get it infected and the care was easy. Jewellery stores do it.

I have 2 daughters. I was lucky and had a pedi that did it but it is a very cultural thing in the city I live so I think a good deal of Pedi's do it here. They can have them as soon as they have their first shots and we did it at that same visit. They do both ears at the exact same time so it is just one ouchie. My girls have always loved it and never messed with it and it would have been done anyway. What girl in this day and age does not get ears pierced? They don't remember it but are glad I did it. Do use pure gold studs. I would try a professional piercing parlor. I know people who have done the mall and it was not a problem. Just check them out ahead of time and make sure you feel comfortable with the establishment.

My mom had mine done at the mall when I was a baby. I pulled them out so she left them out. I got them redone at 12 because my grandmother raised me and tgat was her rule. Also at the mall. They put a new hole because the first place had done them crooked!!! I took my daughter when she had her shots to a place at the mall that specialized in baby piercing. They had 2 people who did both ears at the same time. She never even cried. But around 10 months started to pull on them and mess with them. So we took them out. Just wanted to share my experience. But her dr. Didnt do them either. Call around locally eventually you will hear of a dr that will or a good place

In a lot of cultures it is perfectly normal to Pierce ears early. You should wait until after all immunizations have been done. However because the Dr doesn't do it has nothing to do with wether its right or wrong. My Dr. Doesn't do my daughters immunizations the health clinic does that. Does that mean I shouldn't get her immunized?

Hmm. Maybe you can call another office? They might do it even though she is not a patient there. I'd try it out. I got my daughter's pierced after her shots too. Good luck.

@Jodi - Panties in a bunch no. Just like to see threads stay on topic and information be accurate. Your comment that doctor's office's don't pierce ears because babies shouldn't get their ears pierced was inaccurate. If you want to discourage somebody from doing something at least post accurate or useful information.

I got mine done at the local jewelry store when I was a kid. I'll also second what Gena mentioned because my sister adn I are both allergic to cheap metal. Anything but real gold (10k or higher) made our ears severely infected, so be on the lookout for that.

My neice got hers done when she was 4months old..she had such an infection that they had to take them out.She is now 12 and had had them done again when she was ten.I would suggest you go to a proper piercing place.I know its up to you if you want your childs ears pierced but just beaware that some kids are allergic to any material earrings afterwards. Then i would recomend putting real gold earrings in.

It might be a public website, but there are particular forums for particular topics. Discussions regarding "best age to pierce ears" probably belong in the debating moms forum. The original poster didn't ask for opinions, only places that do piercings that are not at the mall.

The question is 'where would you recommend me piercing my baby's ears besides the mall?' My answer... as well as Jodi's (I'm 'assuming') is... no where.

Yes, you are the mom and it's your choice, but.... many people do not agree with that choice, so they are going to inform you of that since this is a public website. ;)

@Jodi... since am the mother I get to decide what goes & what doesn't. She's getting her ears pierce @ 3 months after her first shots.

The fact that the doctor's office won't pierce ears has nothing to do with them making any sort of judgement call on the practise of ear piercing. They don't pierce ears (or cut hair, or give pedicures) because they don't offer aesthetic services.

You could check out places that specialize in piercing. A lot of tattoo places do tattoos and piercing both.
