Pillows in the crib?

[deleted account] ( 2 moms have responded )

Recently my little guy hasn't been able to sleep well. It seems that he won't sleep unless he's in bed with my husband and I. Which is something we've talked about avoiding since before he was born. But I'm stumped. Every time I would lay him down wether he was awake or passed out he would wake up almost instantly and start screaming. So I tried putting a VERY flat pillow in his bed, the way it's placed his head and upper portion of his body are just slightly elevated. And I was worried because I've heard you're not supposed to put pillows in the cribs and stuff. But he doesn't roll over yet or anything.
And the pillow has been the only way he will sleep, thus far.
Would it be okay? I'm a first time mom and I'm kind of worried.

You can also buy what they call a wedge that goes under the crib mattress and elevates it that way. My youngest daughter is 2 1/2 and still likes the slight elevation. Please take the pillow out because it could be a real hazard to him.

If he is not rolling over yet then he is too little for a pillow. I would try elevating the crib. He may like the slight elevation. You can also buy a rock and play or something similar that might work good. They have a slight elevation and snuggle them in.
