I'm desperate for help!
I'm a FTM of a beautiful 5.5 month old high needs baby boy, who's sleep is just plain awful:(
He is EBF and wakes every 45 min at night!
We took him to the doctor to rule out any illness- he used to have reflux, but that's been better.
When he wakes, he's not usually crying-unless he's hungry- which is about once or twice a night- he's just wide awake.
I've tried letting him settle himself and fall back asleep, but he just screams and then will stay awake for hours.
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that he thinks he needs to nurse to fall asleep, so everytime he wakes, that's what he expects.
I've tried to break him of this with no luck :(
He also will only nap about 30-45 min at a time during the day- and that's only if sleeping on or with me.
We've tried co-sleeping a few times, but it doesn't seem to help a ton.
He sleeps a little better, but nurses all night long and still wakes up pretty often.
So, he ends up getting extremely overtired all the time.
We literally can't go anywhere or plan anything because he's sleeping like crap, therefore he's always tired.
I don't expect or care if he sleeps through the night- I would just like it to be a little better and I would love to be able to put him down for naps rather than have him sleep on me constantly.
I love holding him, but I can't do it 24/7.
I would love any suggestions from anyone who's been there.
