please help i have a baby boy that has just turned one and up untill now he has been fine when i leave the room but the last week he has been a nightmere as soon as i walk to the gate he starts screaming at me i say to him i will be back in a min and when i come back i say see mummy came back but he is just sobbing i cant take him with me all the time and some times he can see me and still crys his little eyes out is there any thing i can do to stop this or will he just get better with age any help would be great thanks :-)

you're doing the right thing, telling him you'll be right back. when you can try talking to him from the other room especially when you are out of sight, speak loud enough for him to hear you over the crying. it's a head ache at this age but to him you're gone like you vanished. he does not have the understanding that you will come back, this is why he's always so happy to see you. he's surprised each time. how sweet is that. babies will demand what their heart desires to the max. it's special and will pass. Before you know it he will be 7 and you will have to beg for hugs and kisses.

Actually with separation anxiety the more you ignore it the more insecure you will make him and it will actually last longer.

Yes it will get better every time you return it'll reinforce that you will be back. If you google separation anxiety you can find ways to help them through this stage, one example would be playing peekaboo.

thanks for that i will have a look a lot of people say not to take any notice of it but thats hard when he seems really upset with tears rolling down his face having his mmr jab was easy compaired to this.
