We are moving to Portland from Europe- have never even set foot in the state! Need lots of help in figuring out the school situation. The private schools are all full. Our eldest has dyslexia- a mild form- but that makes it even more a challenge to find help as many discount her need for help. She has gone to private school her whole life where I have been able to manage class size and support....nervous about the public system and her slipping through the cracks but also nervous about putting her in a specialist school and that making her feel different or limiting her socially- she is 12 and those things are on her radar now. My middle child is 10 and accelerated in math. Without a challenge she gets bored. MY youngest is 8 and cheerful specializing in talking and writing. Any advice for where to start? I have a ton of info on neighborhoods but most people dont want to put out an opinion about schools. We have Lake Oswego, Riverdale on the table as southern options, would def consider in Portland options but can only find scoop on highschools not good info on the MS and primary that feed them. Lincoln looks great but what MS and elementary feed it that is equally great? Also would consider a place maybe NW that is horsey if that exists. My husband will be working in the north and would love to bike to work. We are coming from England and a very walkable, bikeable, train into London in 20 minutes world. Just trying to find our place in this new space. Thanks for any help.
