Positive prego urine test WAY to early....?

On a Saturday Feb 25th, 2012 I had a positive urine pregnancy test. On tuesday Feb 28th I began bleeding and went to the hospital where they took a blood test. that came back that I was 3 days pregnant. They said that because I had a positive urine test on the Saturday I had to have much higher levels of the Hcg then and that they thought I lost it and my body was just adjusting the HCG back down. That made sense to me, until this last Wednesday March 28th, 2012 I realized that I hadn't started the night before like I was suppose to. I took a test and it was positive, I went to the doc yesterday (Thurs Mar 29th) and got another blood test. The results came back that I am 4-5 weeks! The doc is baffled at how i was able to get a positive result that early! I basically got the first positive the day that the blood work says the HCG started! It lines up exactly with the hospitals first blood test! I have to go back tomorrow and get another one cuz they are all baffled, but I am wondering if anyone else has had this happen or knows of this happening-Ive tested before I missed a period before, but not THAT EARLY! and I'm wondering if anyone has heard of this and what ended up being wrong in that pregnancy!?

One idea is that you possibly had a twin pregnancy of which one of the twins was not viable. You would then miscarry that twin while the other one would implant. It's also possible that you got such an early positive pregnancy test due to a twin pregnancy. I'm not sure, but I think I read somewhere that twin pregnancies have higher hormone levels than singles.

The other possibility is that you miscarried and your body immediately cycled again before you could "miss" your period. My mom miscarried once and went for 2-3 weeks still getting positive pregnancy tests. If you had a "back-to-back" pregnancy occur you could still have had hormones from your previous one boosting the test.
