Hi, my friend is having trouble potty training her 5 year old daughter! Advice please!
"Although healthy now, my 5 year old daughter has been very sick for about 80% of her life. Because of her ongoing illness her physical development has been very, very delayed. To give you an idea of what I mean, she's still in size 2/3 clothes and weighs the same as a typical 2.5-3 year old. Anyway, she's starting school very soon (kids start on their birthday's here) and I am worried as she isn't potty trained and still in nappies or pull-ups. Her doctor has told me she doesn't have an actual problem, she just simply isn't ready and this is due to her delayed development. The reason I am concerned is because every single school I've looked into say kids are required to be fully toilet trained before starting, no exception. A few people have suggested I should speak to someone at the school but If I was, what would I say to them?? She doesn't have an actual problem... I really don't want to have to homeschool her though? Last week I spoke to my daughter about it and we started putting her in underwear during the day in the hopes of potty training and she had more accidents than successes. No idea what to do!! Any advice would be awesome. Thanks!"
