postpartum bleeding!

My baby is 10 days old, and I am still bleeding. It's bright red sometimes and a bit darker sometimes. It kinda comes in spurts, especially after I've been laying down. It's not saoking through a pad in an hour or anything, but it just keeps coming heavier than I thought it would. Most of the things I have read say that it should be pinkish or even yellow by now. Has anyone else had actual blood this long? I don't know if I should worry or not!

Yup, mine never turned yellow or pinkish. It was always bright red until 5 weeks when it just stopped one day. I did have a csection though and I had an infection... so that might be why mine was always red (I wasn't taking it easy either, I was up and cleaning the house, picking up my baby and being way too active for someone just getting out of major surgery).

Mine stopped right on week 6!
It does that --- gets heavier when you've stood up (if you've been laying down it will pool inside and then flow out heavier). You are fine :)

I remember bleeding like that 2 weeks after, I think you're fine. For peace of mind, call and ask your dr. or nurse.

I bled for 4 weeks. It felt like a really really long time. After not having a period for 10 months, it was a real shocker to have to go through it for so long! :P
If I can remember right, I had red blood pretty heavy off and on for 2 or 3 weeks. If you feel weak, you should ask your dr as soon as possible. You're probably seeing the midwife or dr every week anyway, right? Just throw that question in there, even if it's the baby's dr and not yours.
