Postpartum insomnia

I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy almost 6 weeks ago now. About 1 1/2 weeks ago, I told my doctor that I was suffering from post partum depression and anxiety (buckets of tears for no reason, loss of attachment, etc.). He prescribed me 20 mg. of Prozac, which I took for about a week. Since then, I have been unable to sleep at any time (day or night). Turns out, I'm allergic to SSRI's, so I stopped taking the Prozac after yesterday morning and took 5 mg of Ambien, so that I could at least get 5 solid hours of sleep last night (my husband took care of the baby). Has anyone else had this problem, how did it resolve and how long did it take?

Well Paxil is great for depression and anxiety. It helped me a lot. And my SIL too.

They are trying to decide what to put me on. I meet with my doc next week to discuss it, but I have to make it to that point.

I've never been on Prozac nor been allergic to SSRI's. They put me on Paxil for PPD. Which is not an SSRI. Why can't they put you on something different? I hope you get some sleep! That's the worst.
