I am nervous when my period will start again! I had a baby exactly 2 months ago. I have had sex a couple times and have been EXTREMELY safe. (except i havent taken my birth control yet because the doctor said wait until my first period starts to start it) I am not breast feeding either and the more I read things the more I see that many people have already started their periods if they were not breast feeding.

For those of you not breast feeding when did your period come back? I went for my check up 2 weeks ago and the doctor said all was healthy and normally and healed well!

Maybe he wants you to wait so your hormones normalize, especially considering how your periods were before and during pregnancy. Give your body time to heal and balance.

I am not sure why the doctor said to wait until my first period, but he said "Wait until your period starts and then take it the following sunday"
I did have a vaginal birth. The strangest thing is I had a period throughout my pregnancy and since I gave birth no signs of periods at all!

Earlier this past week I felt crampy and had some regular period food cravings and I thought for sure it was about to start! Then the cramps went away. I understand that periods have a lot to do with your eating habits (which changed a lot) exercise (which i am able to do again regularly) and hormones (which have gotten a lot better since birth)

2 weeks ago at the PP check up he ran a lot tests and he was like well the upside "you are no longer pregnant!" (He made jokes because my pregnancy was crazy and i was hospitalized 4 times after only finding out i was pregnant at 6 months)

They told you not to start your pill??? WTF????? Usually they give you a low dose just for protection. Since you are not even breastfeeding, there is no reason NOT to take the pill unless you have other underlying medical condition that prevents you from taking them.

Everyone is different. Hormones need to balance, and then your period usually starts. There is no set time to have a period after birth. Some women give birth, and start there period again right then. Others take months or even a year or more to start back up. It also can depend on if you gave vaginal birth or via c section.

Just enjoy your period free time, take care of yourself, and use condoms. You CAN get pregnant without your period. This just means you can ovulate at ANY time and get pregnant again before you get a period. So use a condom! Or tell your doctor that you want to be put on the pill now.
