This may be a silly question, but for a first time mom just starting potty training, I'm curious. How clean should I be making the potty after use? Rinse with water or use a cleaner of some sort?

I wouldn't use the darn thing. It is so much easier to hold them on the toilet. Plus you can't carry the little potty everywhere and you don't want them to be afraid to use the toilet when you are out somewhere.

I tip the contents in the toilet, rinse the bowl in the laundry sink, swish some disinfectant around in the bowl, then rinse again and just stick it back in the potty wet and let it dry. :)

For just pee I would rinse and dry it.

For poop I would rinse it well, dry it (w/ a paper towel), and then wipe it out w/ a Lysol wipe.

I kept a small bottle of antibacterial dish soap in the bathroom, the pump kind. Then I would just use one pump and run it under hot water.

Luckily, my son liked the big potty. So, we only used the training one a dozen times.
