Potty Problems!

I need some advice. My son will be 4 in September and he has pretty well mastered peeing in the potty (we have accidents here and there) but he is still fighting about pooping, he normally goes days or even a week without pooping!! He would rather go and hide somewhere to poop rather than go to the toilet. I've tried changing his diet to include more fibre, which proves to be difficult because he is such a picky eater in the first place, I've taken him to the doctor and he's was put on lactulose, it seemed to soften his poop but not make him go more often and I would still catch him and have to rush him into the toilet. I took him to the Dollarstore to pick out prizes, if I have to get him to go to the bathroom and he poops in the toilet he would get to pick one toy, if he goes all on his own then he gets to pick two toys. It seemed to be working for about a month, but now he's been pooping in his underwear again for the past 3 days. I'm so frustrated and I don't know what else to do. He is starting preschool in September and I'm afraid of what will happen if he doesn't have pooping in the potty down by then. Any suggestions would be very welcomed!!

TRy not to stress about it. If he goes in his pants don't make a big deal of it, but remind him every time he sits on the potty that when he goes poop he gets a prize! make a big deal of that part. If you're stressed he's going to pick up on that, and that'll stress him out which can lead to him thinking that pooping on the potty is a bad thing. Also, don't push him to poop on the potty because that could lead to him digging in his heels and refusing to do anything! Just be patient, he'll figure it out.
