I teach at a preschool and there is a three year eight month old little girl having a hard time with potty training. She has decided one day to finally stop using pull-ups and is now in undies. She knows how to use the potty and knows what it feels like when she has to go. The problem is that she holds it to the point where is gets upset, whiny, frustrated, sit on the floor and not participate in activities, and wiggle in one spot; most times all at once. I have spoken with her that she needs to tell me when she needs to go. At first she would hold herself and say that she needs to go and I would go with her to the potty and she would sit, but not do anything. She would get up and say I do not have to go and I would say ok just let me know when you do (and she is showing signs just before that she really does need to go). It has now turned into that she will just say that she does not want go and she is all upset and will hold for hours, but she does not want the pull-ups, which I will not provide anyway because it was her choice to give them up and she does not ask for them either. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with a child that was ready to potty train, but is just upset about the whole process? The other thing is that she will only go for me at the school, but when she gets home, she gives family a hard time.
