My daughter turned one in march and on may 3 went pee pee in the potty for the first time. It was amazing to me since I wasn't expecting her first time on it to be a success. I put her on her potty seat and told her pee pee in the potty and went to turn the sink on to help her to go (my moms idea) but before I got to it she started going on her own!!! I was so happy and me and my three nephews started singing pee pee in the potty over and over to her. Lol I must say the song is working. Anytime anyone starts singing she goes to the bathroom and wants to try to go even if she don't have to. Just two days ago we were trying to get my nephew to go poo poo in the potty (he is refusing to use the potty right now... he is almost 2 years old) and out of no where my daughter goes to the bathroom and I sit her on her potty and she squeezed out two little poo poos. Lol. You should try the song. Maybe even dance around like I do and make it a fun game. Also anytime I go I take her with me even if she don't have to go I still sit her on her potty and sing her the potty song. Lol good luck to you!!! :)

18 months is pretty young yet. The biggest trick I can tell you is to follow her lead. They will do it when they are ready. Encourage but don't push. Have a little potty out for her. Allow her to guide you on what she is ready for and when. Right now all she may want to do is sit on it sometimes with her clothes on. I say potty training is more like reading. .....you can't learn to read without learning the alphabet and the sounds letters make. You also don't start off reading right away. It is a process.
