this is my first child and my son is 22 months old so its ideal to start potty training him but its hard for him to always see his dad "go first" with his work schedule so ill be training him during the week but how ??... i feel like i don't know where to start since obviously his dad would be showing him how to go in a different way then me .....

With my son we did the cheerios but also his favorite treat was gushers so that was his incentive. If he sat on the potty he got 1 if he peed in the potty he got 2 and if he pooped in the potty he got three. No one (not even grandma) was allowed to give him gushers unless he used the potty. He was out of diapers in about two months :)

I have girls but I had asked about this when I was pregnant, just in case. Most of the moms I asked who had boys said to put cheerios or fruit loops in the toilet bowl and have him aim for them - they said it worked beautifully.

They also said that they taught their boys the alternate way of sitting on the toilet and "tucking" their penis into the bowl so they could go sitting down.

Wishing you luck on the training :)
