When I potty trained my son I took him to the bsthroom with me when I went. I also tried putting cheerios or small things in his potty for him to aim in it. As far as the pooping inthe potty that took years for him to take to it. He ended up needing Miralax for his poop problem(which is why he took so long). My daughter Kayla pretty much potty trained herself and Susie(the youngest) was easy since she followed myself and her sister into the bathroom

This is very much your decision, but personally... I would not start training my boy until closer to 3 unless he is showing interest.

Often the first step in potty training is the action of pulling down pants and sitting on the toilet. If he likes sitting on the toilet with his pants on, I would let him do it. As silly as it sounds, he is creating a relationship with the toilet.

My daughter went through a phase where she wanted to sit on toilets everywhere we went. I don't think potty training necessarily has to involve leaving something in the potty for it to be beneficial.

I would take all of his clothes off. How old is he? Potty training is hard. I am having problems with my 3 year old STILL!
