potty training my 2.9 year old son

My son is 2.9 and in the 8th day of potty training. Over all I think he is doing very well. I put him in underwear and place the potty in the livingroom, so he can go at his convienience and it isn't taking him to far from his toys. My concern is that he is still peeing on the floor 3 or 4 times a day. He knows that he has to go and he runs to the potty to sit a number of times with nothing coming out. Then he will pee on the floor. He always poops on the potty now. How long should I expect 4 accidents a day? My daughter was the same age and she was accident free after the 4th or 5th day.

2.9 is.....two years 9 months or almost 3? We never did the little potty. We did a "potty bell" and when it went off we ran as fast as we could to the toilet to "try" and pee. If something came out, it did, if not, not. But she was in panties. She was pretty much 3 years old when she was always going to the toilet, but accidents still occasionally happened. I always heard boys take longer. Most people have problem with them peeing okay and pooping in pants. I think you have the better end of the deal! I'd rather have a few pee accidents than poop. If he tends to go at certain times of the day, maybe just say something like, oh, did you just sit on the potty? around the times he seems to go and maybe he'll think, hm, i haven't, let's sit down and try. Good luck. sounds like he's doing fairly well.

I think it depends on the child and how ready they truly are, but he is only in the 8th day of training so it may take awhile.
