Potty Training My 3 year old is frustrating

I know it takes time, but my 3 year old since April has given me the signs and talks about the potty. He switched three days today to underpants. We go to potty in the morning and he goes. That is it. Yesterday, I caught him and he went another time. I can't catch him pooping. He is okay with poop and peeing on self. Is this normal? Please help.

It is very normal as he is a boy! Set a timer for 30 minutes. If there is success, GREAT, offer lots of praise and hugs and then reset the timer for another 30 minutes. If no success, offer praise for trying and reset the timer for another 30 mintues. The timer acts as a silent independent reminder and mom is not always harping on him to try.

I tried this with my son when he was 2. About 2 weeks of the timer and he informed me that he was "a big boy now and did not need that timer." I had gotten to the point that I had moved the time of the timer out to 45 minutes and then 1 hour before he told me that. The sitter and I were working together to get this accomplished.

He turned 2 in Jan and the previous Nov the sitter asked me to start buying big boys pants as by Spring he would not need diapers anymore. That Christmas he received 4 packages of underwear, Mickey Mouse, Pooh Bear, 101 Dalmations and dinasours.

We never used Pullups and they are just diapers for big kids!

Night time was a bit of a hassle for a little while but we did get there.

Yep it's normal. My 3 year old is doing the same thing. She is very stubborn! I had her in under wear all day and she got so sick of going to the bathroom she asked for a diaper!
