Potty training refusal

So my 3yr old stepson absolutely refuses to potty train for me. We go all morning diaper free, set timers and he absolutely refuses to sit on the potty for me. But he holds it all morning until I put his diaper on at nap time and soaks through it while napping. Driving me nuts. He will at least try for everyone but me

I would take a different approach. It sounds like it is very stressful and forceful. Try to make it more of it being a fun and enjoyable thing and more about him and not you. Don't set timers. Have a routine in which he sits and tries, but don't have it set by a timer. Just in your daily routine.....like for me I have them try about mid-morning and then right before and after nap. If he does not want to sit on the potty then try a little potty out by the tv or the toys. You want him trying but sometimes it works better if they are somewhat distracted. This also makes it more fun for them. If he goes then have a treat (I do 1 m&m for pee and 2 for poop). This also makes it more fun for them. If he does not go don't make a big deal of it......just let him know that he can try next time and maybe be able to get an m&m then.....no m&m if no pee or poop. Remember this is his thing not yours. Even though you want him to be trained he is the only one that can do it. The more you push the longer it takes......encourage and celebrate his accomplishments.
