Hi everyone, new to this so I may not know correct wording etc!
Bit if background, I am 24, found out I was pregnant a few weeks before my beloved mum passed away. Gave birth ( c section) and 2 days later moved house! The last few weeks I have been feeling very down in the dumps, anxious, no motivation and don't want to leave the house!
Do you think this is PPD? Can I cure this without medication? Docs have offered me anti depressants but as my boyfriend can't get a lot lf time off I'm worried about taking them as I'm on my own with my beautiful baby! Please help!!

I would never want to take it long term, just hopefully to get me out of this hole. I have had one session of CBT but when I had that it was more for the anxiety, the low side of things are gradually getting worse. I've never had any suicidal thoughts but worried they may start later?! They say it's a low dose as I expressed my concern but 50mg still seems high to me?

Medication is not a cure. Medication is a way to help you clear your head so that you can find a way through. However I do understand your concern about taking it. Medication made me very sleepy at times and I had to switch medications several times to find the right one for me. Unfortunately, my PPD was so severe (suicidal) that medication was critical. However, other things that helped make me feel better were lots of sunshine and exercise, getting plenty of rest and making sure I had a healthy diet and was eating enough (and empty stomach makes for an empty heart).

Did your doctor also recommend therapy? Medication without therapy is pointless because you are not really solving anything with the medication only, just masking it.
