.Prefect Blues!

My daughter Cayla tried very hard to become a prefect in her grade 7 year. She got the votes from her teachers but not of her peers. All her best friends were chosen. A best friend from another school transferred to her class the last two months of Grade 6. She was also made prefect. This child then became friends with Cayla's best friend (also a prefect) and they completely rejected Cayla. It was not enough that they were both prefects and natural academics, but now they keep rubbing it in her face. When she told us little stories of them bad-mouthing her we thought it was just normal for girls. But she began to speak herself into being ill. We then found some self-loathing notes in her diary! We immediately called her Principle to have her moved to the other Grade 7 class. She seems happier there, but should we send her to a Councillor? I feel so bad that we did not move her sooner. Any Advice out there?

Councilling is always a good idea. Good luck I know how mean girls can be. Just tell her that they don't matter and she should rise above their comments. Hard I'm sure as nothing quite matters as much as friends at this age!
