Usually my baby's kicks are really hard and in the top of my belly usually, which means that his head is down.
But sometimes (rarely, but sometimes) I feel like he is kicking me in the very low abdomen. Those are more difficult to feel. I actually have to sit down and do my kick chart.
My doctor informed me that I should sit down every day and count babies kicks. If i don't feel the baby kick 6 times in a 2 hour period then I should go to my delivery hospital asap.
I bet though, if you actually sat down in a quiet space with your hand on your belly you would be able to feel the baby. It usually only takes me 15 mins to an hr to feel that many kicks.
Check out http://spinningbabies.com/ for activities to help move baby into position. I haven't focused too much on that as my boy (28 weeks) moves around a lot still, and I only assume switches positions daily. I don't have the answers for you, just that resource you can check out.
