Pregnancy and yeast infections

I am currently 11 weeks pregnant with my second child and I have a yeast infection. I am just wondering if anyone has ever had a yeast infection and were told by their doctor that it was ok to use Vagasil or any other topical cream. I know that it says on the package not to self diagnose while pregnant but I know that it is a yeast infection, as I have had many before. I actually got one when I became pregnant with my first, and used the cream because at that point I didn't know I was pregnant. Anyway, I don't see my doctor for another 2 weeks and I want this to go away, eating yogurt hasn't been helping! Any advice would be appreciated.

Just call the doctor and ask one of the nurses over the phone they will ask the doctor and get back to you. They may even move your appoinment up sooner if the doctor decides they want to see you.

I used the topical cream but my doctor told me not to use the oral medication. Like Michelle, I wouldn't use the applicator.

I had 3 during my 2 pregnancies and it's totally safe. Go ahead and treat it. It won't hurt you (or your baby) if it's not a yeast infection and will help if it is.

I used it when I was pregnant with my 3rd but I was in my 3rd trimester. I got tonsillitis and had to take antibiotics and they always give me a yeast infection. The doctor told me it was fine as long as I didn't use the aplicator to get the cream futher up. Hope that make sense, it's getting late for me here :-)

You can just call the OB to make sure it is safe. They will let you know right over the phone if using topicals will be safe. Not sure if internal med is all right, but call and check....Also, you should be able to call a pharmacist and ask them.
