When in doubt call your doctor. Tell them you want to be checked. Never feel silly for asking. This is your baby and you want to do what is best. I had sharp pains in my cervix with my second. I knew she was trying to come early like my first. Doctor didnt want to check but I told her she better. When she did her eyes got huge, I knew I was dialated and efaced. Her mouth dropped, I was 3cm and 75% effaced. I had to go on complete bed rest for 3 1/2 weeks.

go to the doctor and make them hook you up to check out your baby - get an ultrasound and make sure they check where the umblical cord is too

Call your doctor and setup an apt.
If he is unable to see you take a trip to the
E.R. This isn't a time to sit back and relax
Better safe than sorry. God bless!

Agree with her. be careful. just check & keep a close watch on the baby. I pray things go well with you & the baby.

Call your OB! It sounds like you might be in labor and if the urgent care didn't check you out for dilation or anything to do with the baby. It's really important you get a hold of your doctor! Afterall, better to be over cautious than not cautious enough.

hi everyone, sorry i havent replied yet. i went to urgent care and i have a viral infection. for 2 days i couldnt keep anything down, i was throwing up acid after awhile. but i think i have a bad bladder infection becuse the whole middle of my back is kinda cramping. i have been feeling alot of pressure down there too. im not sure what labor feels like because i was to out of it while in labor with my son then i had an emegency c-section, so it was all a blur to me. all i remember is going into the hospital with my son because i had very bad diaherra like every 5 min. sorry to ,uch TMI. but this baby will be a c-section. she had already dropped at 33 weeks and i was only 1/2 cent dialated but he could feel the top of her head. not really sure what it meant. but all in all im still having the back pain and pressure

Your ligaments are so soft towards the end that sometimes that's where the back part comes from, baby is probably starting to drop now and the pelvis opening ;) I've had similar with 4 pregnancies and it's just gravity setting in and your body allowing what's going to happen in a few weeks to happen, I say pelvis moving and opening is a bit like your symptoms xx

My 20 yr old had the same prob during her pregnancy and it turned out to be kidney stones, and she never had kidney stones before. Just something for you to look into maybe.

Call your doctors office. Just so the doctor knows this is happening.. But it really probably isn't anything at all might not even be labor. There are so many discomforts that go along with pregnancy especially in your stage. Also it could just be Braxton Hicks.. Depending on how far your dilated I highly doubt its labor.. Everyone's different but with even my 3rd child I was dilated to a 3 for more than 2 weeks. Just relax. You'll be fine! ;) You've done this before obviously and you know what to expect. I'm sure your doctor will say the same. But if you have time and feel like you really should then go to labor and delivery they'll more than likely send you BK home after 4 or more hours of waiting.. :/ Given that you have one child just try to take it easy. A great relaxer is taking a bath, get the water as hot as you can handle and once it's as full as possible pull the plug so water can drain some and turn on only cold water. You can feel the cold water move through the hot water and the super hot water relaxes muscles then the cold somehow almost numbs (sp?) Your pain. Its awesome! My last two pregnancies I had problems with my sciatic nerve and its amazing! I still do it!! ;)) GREAT LUCK SWEETY!!

Could be that the baby is "dropping". (lowering into the birthing position.) I remember that being very uncomfortable!

It could be a sign of what everyone has said. I agree. I wasn't sure either, when I started having those feelings, yet it is about that time, in your pregnancy that you will feel these sick feelings. The key is, if your not sure always always call your Doctor and let him/her know what your feeling, especially if you haven't felt it before with the first child. Wishing the best and a healthy pregnancy.. :)

if the pains come and go I agree with Michelle. Time them if they come and go. Did you have back labour with your first. Call your midwife and ask her she knows you best or your doctor.

umm i have one question where in ur stomach is the pain, is it across the top or all ova, if it's jst in the top i would get to the hospital right away as it is a sign of very seriouse pre-eclemsia, n toxicity, very dangerouse...i had this with my first pregnacey the pain was only in the top of the stomach area and around to my back where the kidnys n liver is but cause the mucels to contract and become really painful, hope u've already found out what it is though

At the least, it sounds some pre-labour. Your body is just warming up for the big show. Good luck!

Especially if the back ache comes and goes, it could be labor. I had back labor three times, and it feels like a back ache. Back labor usually takes longer than regular labor.

Hopefully it's just Braxton-Hicks contractions. My friend felt like that for the last month of pregnancy. She felt unlucky, but she didn't have to work as hard once labour started because she was already 4 cm dilated!

Although, the dates might be off and you have a full-term baby in there and it's ready to come out, in which case, yay! :) I felt really "off" for a couple of days before I had my son, kind of how you're describing.

It could be the start of labour. I would take it easy and see how you go but also ring the hospital and let them know. They may want you to go in so they can check things out.
