Dear all mummies,

I'm Cheryl Tan here from Malaysia. I visited LA last year March for vacation. I'm now pregnant for 2 months . Me & my husband plan to give birth in LA . I have a few questions need to check with mummies in this community. I'm a Chinese . Firstly,I'm looking for a hospital suggestion to give birth . And Secondly, I'm looking for confinement lady after I give birth. My due on delivery is 26Feb17. Appreciate that you can give me some opinion . I'm a first time mummy. Thank you very much.

Dear Sarah,

Thanks for your response. Confinement lady is to recover mummy body after giving birth . Help to cook 3 meal specific ingredients like ginger chicken, red dates soup etc .
This is normally traditional for Chinese. Normally take 1 month. I'm not sure USA got Chinese confinement lady. But I think LA got quite a lot of Chinese. My uncle & aunt live in LA too. Previously when my aunt give birth, my mum fly to LA help her on her confinement.

I'm looking of option on Chinese confinement lady, else need to check my mum schedule can fly to LA help me on my confinement.

You will get better advice on a more local forum. Google the hospitals in the area and read the reviews that are posted. Also, they will have information about the level of care they can provide a sick baby etc.
A confinement lady is not something you will find in the US. You can hire a doula, to come help you during and after delivery but they generally come and go for a few days post delivery. If you want to hire a baby nurse, contact a nursing agency, but that will be very expensive and most won't work 24 hours a day. What exactly does the "confinement lady" help with and maybe I can give you some ideas.
