Is there anything I can use to prepare my nipples for breastfeeding?
When I had my first daughter, the breastfeeding was a nightmare for me. I was so looking forward to breastfeed her and felt extremely sad when I wasn't able to.
I had cracks, blisters and bleeding. The pain was really unbearable. I have a high tolerance for pain, but I've never had such a terrible pain until a breastfed. I was told that I had extra sensitive nipples. Although I had the help of many nurses and lactation specialists, plus the use of shields, lansinoh, etc there was no way I could keep going and so then, I started to breast pump instead. The pain was still there, and after 20 days I had to stop, because the pain that was already really strong increased immensely all of sudden. After some trips to the hospital, the nurses advised me to stop.
So now, for the second baby, I was wondering, if I can do or use, anything to prepare my nipples. I'll definitely try it again, because I would feel bad if I don't, but if there is something to get ready for it, please tell me :(
