i am 30 weeks pregnant and have had a horrible, painful , rough pregnancy and am getting "naturally" induced around 36 weeks due to the fact. she said something about sweeping the membranes and how it could be painful and uncomfortable depending the stage my cervix is at, at the time. im curious if anyone may have any advice on how i could prep my cervix for the sweep like softening it somehow to be ready for it? i took primrose with my last child and it worked wonders but didnt start it until 36 weeks like it says.. has anyone used it earlier? dr cant suggest anything so im tryna go outside the box here,. thanks ALSO* to add, if i dont have her by 38 weeks im getting medically induced maybe even c-section depending on situation at the time... so really hoping to make this happen before 38 weeks like dr plans!

Yup, I had it done 2 times (sweeping membranes). It really is just a bit uncomfortable and takes literally a matter of seconds for them to do it. Nothing you need to do. Nothing you really can do to prep yourself for it. Just relax while it is being done.

The thing about natural inductions, your body will not start labor unless it is read to.

Exactly what Little Miss said, they're is nothing to do to prep it's just uncomfortable. It's possible that your water may break during the membrane sweep but it didn't happen either time I had mine done. With my first I went into labor within 10 hours of having it done, it didn't help with my second, it really just depends if your body is ready.
