Preschool/nursery school/playgroup

I don't know if it's just hormones, but I feel sad for my son. This is like the 5th day of playgroup/nursery school for him and evertime I leave him there, he gets upset. I thought I'd be ok with it, but today even though I held it inside, I felt sad. How do you know if you are doing the right thing?

He may be sensing that you are hesitant on leaving him there and this feeds into his insecurity about going there. Give him a hug, a kiss, tell him u love him and leave. The standing there procrastinating and putting off leaving tells him you are having issues of leaving him. He will be ok once u leave and after doing this many times he will get used to this being the routine. I have a daycare in my home and I tell parents who are having the same issues the same thing.

I work in day care an it is very common for a child to be upset when mum leaves, Sometimes they stop not long after ur gone, sometimes they may take up too 2 mths to settle. How many days a week does he go? Sometime if they are only going 1 day a week and can take a bit longer to get used too. Have you spoken to his carers. They should be able to tell you how his going. Maybe leave the room and stick around for a bit to see if he settles. The carers should be able to offer you several ways to make the settling of your boy easier.

How old his he? What is your purpose of putting him in preschool?

Honestly, he probably stops crying and has a great time once you leave. Ask his teachers. I'm sure he's fine.
