private school vs. public school

Okay, so I'm definitely not a mom but I could use advice. I'm 15 and I've gone to private school my entire life. It's been great. I've gone to the same school since 3k. I have never had any problem with it, and have loved all of my teachers and friend. Recently, however, my friends have began to get involved with drugs and drinking. My morals are set very high and I do not plan on getting involved anytime soon. The school I go to is very small so there is not a vast variety of friends. I have just been hanging out with them and denying any drugs or drinking. However, I am extremely uncomfortable and I am afraid I will somehow end up in their tyrants. The only reason I have been staying at this school is because the education has been wonderful. The teachers have been great all until this year. I encountered a teacher who honestly I cannot stand. Her son is on a full scholarship to Harvard and she expects us to comprehend as easily as him. I just found out last night that my favorite teacher is moving to Nevada! I am really considering going to public school but j am afraid the change will be too much. I think I will definitely be able to handle it academically considering my grades at my private school but socially I'm a little worried. I played recreational sports with many of the public school students so I know I will know some people. Is a transition from private to public school very difficult?

I deleted you duplicate posts. I don't know what answer you are looking for. My kids go to a very strict and ultra-conservative Catholic school. I work in the public schools. the difference in the two communities is huge. No one can judge if your transition to public will be easy or hard. There are drugs and alcohol in every school and there will teachers you like an dislike in every school. Private school is not necessarily more challenging academically so don't assume you will move in ahead of your peers. Why would you not stay and make the best of the education you have been offered?
