What should I do? The little girl that I watch has been prescribed Prozac, and I have talked to her mother about my concerns with the med and how her daughter has been acting but she seems concerned as well but she is continuing to give her the med. She comes to me balling because she doesn't know what to do with her daughter. The little girl is 6 almost 7. We have looked over the side effects and neither of us agree that this is the med she needs but I am limited with what I can do being I am just the daycare provider.

I think she may have something else going on if she's hearing voices and Prozac is not the right med to be on if that’s case. If she’s truly depressed seeing a therapist would be a great idea too. I think the Mother should get a second opinion for sure! What a sad situation. I sure hope the poor little sweet girl get's the help she needs and deserves. Good luck!

She is taking it for depression. They think that is what is wrong with her. But I think there is something deeper within her that is wrong but i do not know what I can do. She talks about the voices she hears in her head telling her to do bad things, it is really scary. I do not think Prozac will help with any of this I feel it will make it worse, especially being hallucinations is a major side effect as well as suicide. I am just worried. And thank you September Wilson I will look up a naturopath and refer the information to her mother.

If I were her Mom I would wean her from the meds and find something natural or other resources such as therapy to help with whatever it is she's struggling with. What does she take it for? I've heard horrible things about Prozac but I'm not big on pharmaceuticals in general. Maybe you can recommend that the child see a naturopath? That’s where I would start personally. Good luck!
