So I was told by a friend that drinking prune juice (1 cup an hour ) for a few hours until you develop loose bowels will put you into labor. Any proof of this?

Do not do anything that will bring on labor this soon. You should let your baby and body decide when to go into labor. Inducing labor with prune juice is unheard of as far as I know and I had heard using castor oil would bring on labor as well. Its dangerous to do those things. You might complicate matters by doing so. It is best to follow your doctor's orders and wait out until your body naturally goes into labor or the doc decides that he or she needs to induce, do a c-section, or other methods so you can have your baby in a safe manner.

You are only 37 weeks. It is early yet! You aren't really even full term. Your baby obviously isn't ready. Just leave things alone - baby will come when baby is ready.

Making yourself have loose bowels makes you dehydrated which then can put you in labor because your baby is stressed. Which also means your BABY IS NOT DOING WELL AND IS AT RISK. PLUS YOUR LIFE IS AT RISK DUE TO THE DEHYDRATION. Why wait 9 months and then put both your life and your baby's life at risk just to have baby early?! Baby will come when baby is ready. Being 4 cm can mean it is any day or it can mean it will be awhile. I was at 4 cm for 1 month with 3 of my 4 kids and delivered all right around their due date. My labor was just really fast.

I was also wondering is it Normal to have a very sore vagina at this point, I'm 37 weeks and my vagina area has been sore to the touch for about a day or two.

And that is as it should be. Using other things to bring on labor unless it is doctor's orders is not safe and should not be done. I have had two kids. My plug was lost with my first but I had not dialated that much and had to have to go to the hospital. I was in labor for 20 hours before she was born. The doctor had to give me the petocin to make labor go quicker. And with my son they had to induce labor because my body did not hold labor on its own long. Just wait it out.
