My Ds is 10 days old I'm having so much trouble getting him to wake up and nurse. So I have to pump to relive ny self. He does latch but he won't stay on for long until he falls asleep again. Its so frustrating because I know he is not getting enough to eat. So I just pump and bottle feed him. Also he was in nicu for 4 days after birth and was strictly bottle fed formula. Could that be why he doesn't want to dtay latched or wake up to eat? Has anyone had this problem? Please don't judge I'm a first time mom and I just want what's best for my Ds.

I was told he may have had an infection in his blood stream. So straight from birth to the nicu he went I had no time to bond or start bfing him. So he had a bottle 100% his stay there. I do have a LC she pushes bfing so much. As much as I want to bf he just won't stay awake long enough. So that means I get engourged with milk super painful. I can't even sleep.

What was he in NICU for? I used to have a very similar problem with my daughter, and it was because she was born very small and her sucking reflex wasn't fully developed. As a result, she would tire very easily when breastfeeding. Drinking from a bottle is much easier for a baby than breastfeeding - they have to work hard to feed from the breast! So it does get tiring. I used to just feed much more frequently in those early days. It was also recommended to give her a dummy (pacifier) to help her develop her sucking reflex, and this did help :) Sometimes, I did pump and feed her by bottle, but it comes down to developing that reflex.
