my son is 10 mos old and every since he was circumcized his little penis is always, i guess you would call it, "hiding". it's like it is inside out or tucked in. like his skin swallows it or something. i asked the doctor about it and she says it's normal but she is alsso the one who snipped him. everyone else i have talked to or has changed his diaper says they have never heard of or seen it before. does anyone else know anything about this?

his is ALWAYS hiding, even if he is in a warm bath. I will probably get a second opinion just to make sure. i was just curious as to if anyone else has had the problem.

I am pretty sure this IS normal. My son has the same thing, he's now 3. It's not always "hiding" but it does sometimes get tucked in. I think my husband had the same thing, it kinda happens to him even now, not all the time though. I think it's b/c they don't take off enough skin. My husband was always told by his mother he had a "partial circumcision, but hen I talked to the doctors at the time of my son's, they said there is no such thing. So my take is, it's completely normal, and as far as my son (and husband) is concerned, it doesn't hurt them!

It is totally normal....I have 2 boys and both of theirs did that. It tends to happen more in chunckier babies because of the fat around the penis. As he grows it will get better. But if you dont think something is correct then get a second opinion.

I know what you are taking about, the first time this happened, it looked like he had a second belly button. I called my husband in and asked if it was normal and he said yes. The issue and I can't think of any nice way too put this, but I didnt' know any better, cuz everytime I've ever come in contact with a penis it was looking totally different. (It was ready to ya know). So therefore I didn't know any better. Is this penis always "in" or sometimes can you see the tip? I don't think you have anything too worry about, but I totally understand what you mean.

My three year old has that same problem.. The doctor who performed his circumcision did not cut enough off. The urologist I took him to told me that I just needed to be sure that I pull the skin back and clean it regularly and sometimes it will get red and irritated. Just put A & D on it so that the skin does not readhere.... The doc said he would grow into it.

Hi All,
I see this is an old post but I saw this issue a lot when researching circumcision for my son and still see it on forums now. I would be interested to know if all your sons penises did come out to look like normal circumcisions? and if any had problems because the skin covered the end?
We had our son circumcised 3 weeks ago using the gomco clamp. I was worried it would remove too much skin but that's all our hospital uses and its what my husband thinks is the best to use. My son is healed good now and I am impressed with the result. The gomco clamp ensures that the skin is cut behind the head from the day its cut and wont allow the skin to cover the end to hide or be a innie lol like described here which I think is caused by other circumcision clamps.
BTW..My husband still has a innie like this when hes not aroused haha :) because he was circumcised loosely when he was 16 yr old and that is why he wanted our son to have a more full style circumcision. We would both be interested to know about other parents experiences and hope all your sons are fine...thanks and take care xo

I totally get what you are talking about. We did get a second opinion from a surgeon and it is totally normal. They just have to grow into their skin. They do! You just have to be really careful to pull it back and clean it. Getting a second opinion is still a good idea for your own comfort and so they don't need to have it redone later in life.

silly question but your house is not cool or drafty is it? Or the area you change your son is is not cool? This could cause him to hide. My son tends to hide when the room is cool, could just be that. If not i'd check with another MD. Good Luck

My son is 7 months now, his is still hiding every once in a while. His pediatrician (not the same who did the procedure) said it is normal. He said to just make sure that I continue to keep the penis head and any wrinkled areas clean. To get it to come back out I just push at the base of the penis and it pops right out.

I would get a second opinion!! after all doctors aren't gods, they are human w their own opinions and ideas on how things should be,and what right for them may not be right for you and of course how long have they been a doctor for?.

it's always safer to get a second opinion! my son is circumcised but the little "brother" is never hiding. Do get a second professional advice and keep us updated with what the 2nd doctor says!
