Question about bleeding during pregnancy.

[deleted account] ( 12 moms have responded )

Hi ladies. I am a barely 5 weeks 6 days pregnant with my 3rd child. I have had 4 episodes of bright red bleeding with no clotts or abdominal pain during the last 3 days, with episodes of light pink watery discharge. Not enough blood to soak a pad or any thing, but enough for me to really notice. I am well aware that this is a threatened abortion or miscarriage, I have had a miscarriage before. I know what will happen will happen so I am not rushing off to the doctors.

My question is, has anyone else had bleeding during early pregnancy and still carried to full term.? I have two girls, and never had this problem while pregnant with them.

Thanks for your input :)

I have a friend who bled quite heavily all the way through and still carried to full term and mum and baby were fine. I had bleeding at 4 weeks pregnant (I thought it was a period, I didn't know I was pregnant), my baby and I were also fine.

I was bleeding and cramping with my second child, around 6wks, went to the ER they did a blood test and told me what my hcg levels were. Then told me to come back in two days and repeat and if the levels dropped any at all then I was going to lose the baby. Well the levels dropped, I was devastated, they told me to set up a dnc with my obgyn. I called my obgyn and told them what the er had said. He was very upset that they had told me this without doing an ultrasound, so he set one up. At the ultrasound there was a perfectly healthy little baby with a heartbeat. My obgyn said that after a while the levels of hcg are suppose to slowing decline, and that the er doctor was confused. Today I have a perfectly healthy and happy 2yr old. I hope that this is true for you, and I will keep you in my thoughts. I hope you receive an ultrasound, don't go on hcg levels.

I had a friend who did bleed on and off through most of her pregnancy. You do need to call your doctor tomorrow though, he/ she may want to check you. YOu didn't mention if you had pain or not. NO pain can be a sign of an ectopic. You want to rule that out!! No you don't need to go to the ER tonight, but I would call tomorrow asap and talk to your doctor.

I have never bled and NOT lost a pregnancy, but my doctor says many women do- just not me :(

I hope for you its implanation bleeding.

Yes, I had it with my son and went to the Dr. They told me that sometimes it is normal and it can be your uterus growing and making room for the baby. I hope this is all it is for you hun. Good luck with everthing :)

Ok this is my 4th pregnancy and I'm 5 weeks. I'm bleeding red but I'm not soaking a pad only when I go to the restroom the blood comes out. Today I went to see my doctor and she did a blood test and a ultrasound. But she said she couldn't see the baby. So she told be it was best to go
to the hospital. So when I went they also
said they couldn't see the baby. So the next
step is to wait on Monday to see what is
the results of my blood test. But with my
2nd child who is now 6 years old. It happened the same with him. After thinking the worst that was able to see him. So there is hope. I'm just scared that I could have a mc. But I'm just going to relax and wish for the best. You all are on my prayers plz font loss hope. God bless.

Hi ladies, wonder If you could help me at all? I found out last Wednesday I was 5 weeks pregnant (according to the docs) on the Thursday I started to bleed for a couple days very light, lighter than my Normal period and it was red that went brownish (sorry TMI) and then stopped a little period cramp but nothing like a normal period, the doctors have been really rubbish towards me said to wait two days test again as I could have miscarried I've tested again and positive I don't want to talk to my doctors anymore as there so negative and really crap! I rang the Epu clinic yesterdsy but as being bank holiday they've booked me in for a scan Tomorrow where I should be 6 weeks, I'm really worried and really scared :( any body else experienced this through pregnancy and their babies been okay? This is my first pregnancy and I just want my baby to be okay :( xx

i would say always get it checked as bleeding that turned out to be okay for another might not of been the case for someone else..i had slight bleeding on both my pregnancies more so brown two girls were perfectly healthy.always get checked.there's no harm in getting a doctors professional opinion to see what's going on.

Sounds like you have a handle on the reality here. As a old OB nurse and ER nurse bleeding during pregnancy should never be ignored. It is always viewed as a threatened abortion until checked out. As the ladies have said. Some women do bleed during pregnancy and carry a perfectly normal child to term. This, however is the exception.
Looks like you are doing all the right things and no doubt will be checked out. Hopefully all will be well for you.

I sent my doctor an e-mail to see if they can do two blood HCG tests to see if the hormone levels were rising. I have no pain what so ever, just these episodes of bleeding. I'm sure she will probably want to take a look at me.

i did not have bright red but during my first pregnancy I had light pink which caused me to go to the dr. I found out I had miscarried 6 weeks before, I was supposed to be 14 weeks. But in my 2nd pregnancy i had light bleeding and again went to the dr. My daughter was a healthy little peanut lol. Sometimes if the placenta is covering the cervix whilst your uterus is expanding it can cause some bleeding which was what happened in my case. So I would go see your dr.
