Hi,
I have been pregnant 3 times now & every time it has taken 5 months to get pregnant.
We are currently trying for our 2nd child after a miscarriage & we have now entered our 4th month of trying, so it looks like it'll take 5 months again.
Is there a medical reason why it seems to take this amount of time?

Thanks in advance
Annie

Thanks for those posts, I'm in Winchester, I'll look it up. I know most women have at least 1 miscarriage, but 2 out of 3 isn't exactly filling me with confidence...

My mum has anti-phospholipid syndrome, a clotting disorder of the blood. She says that it's one of the main causes of miscarriage, Please get yourself checked out. It may be that a simple thing like a quarter aspirin could save you loads of heartache. You don't say where you live but mum is under Dr Hughes at St Thomas' Hospital in London.

There is about a 25% chance of getting pregnant with each cycle that you have. Once an egg is released it can only stay viable for about 24-48 hours before it starts to break down. Sperm can hang out and live in your body for about 4 days, so the actual window of opportunity each month is pretty slim. After a year of trying about 75%-85% of couples will become pregnant. It is probably just coincidence that each of your pregnancies have taken about 5 months, the next one might take longer or it might be 5 months again.

If you're coming off of birth control pills or another form of hormonal birth control it could just be that your body takes that long to regulate itself. If not, then I would guess it's just your body relaxing enough to allow itself to get pregnant.
