Question on nose bleeds

My brother used to get nosebleed all the time - virtually daily. And they would be really bad nosebleeds too. The doctor just told us to have him squeeze his nose with a cloth and look down. Don't tilt the head back, because if it's bleeding bad you could swallow some or choke on it. He also told him not to blow his nose.
Now, my 4 year old son gets nosebleeds. His are nowhere near as bad as my brothers were, but we use the same tactic, and it seems to stop the nosebleed rather quickly.
I would certainly suggest asking the doctor about it, but in the meantime, this method seems to help out.
One more thing to try - since you say it tends to happen mostly in the winter months, I would recommend getting a humidifier for her bedroom, and maybe one for your living room (or whatever rooms she spends the most time in). Sometimes the furnace can dry out the air and make our noses and throats dry. The humidifier helps with that, and you may see a reduction in nosebleeds.
I hope that helps!
