I am 17 weeks today with twins. when i conceived my belly was flat, i was slim to start with. i did start to get a mild swelling in my lower belly about 2-3 weeks ago, but it wasn't much. it seems is the last 3-4 days that my belly has really grown. i looked at pictures online of what a 17 week pregnant woman looks like and most are much bigger than i am, but is it normal for me to go from not looking pregnant, to really looking pregnant that fast? i thought i'd be able to slide along a bit but even my loose clothes are starting to be tight. my sister in law had a ovarian cyst that made her belly big when she was pregnant, is there any reason i should worry or is this typical to bust out all of a sudden. i like it, so does derek--we are anxiously awaiting the first few movements.

I am not so much worried as surprised. It was like 3 days I went from looking like I had gained a bit of weight to looking pregnant without a doubt.

I think everyone shows differently. I have only ever been pregnant with singletons, but each of my 4 pregnancies were the same; I was huge by 2 months. My sister-in-law, on the other hand, didn't look pregnant at all until 6-7 months. For me, it was very sudden like u r experiencing. I woke up one day and my stomach was super-bloated; I looked 6 months pregnant over night. I can't imagine it being anything to be concerned about, but if u r u can always request an ultrasound or purchase a Doppler to listen to their heartbearts; mine always put my mind at ease when I was worried. Good luck!

I just wore my normal underwear (Fruit of the Loom bikini briefs) as it rides under my belly anyway.

I have- for a bra because my boobs got huge! i looked around and to be honest i was shocked at the prices and how matronly everything looked. i think with sundresses i will be ok for a while.

I just wore slightly bigger sized underwear....but I wasn't carrying twins and I never got that large when I was pregnant. I was able to mostly wear elastic waisted pants and loose tops when I was pregnant. I had very little in the way of specifically design maternity clothes. But again, you are carrying twins, it will most likely be different. Have you been to a maternity wear store?

As much as they were not glamorous or sexy, I personally found the huge granny style that comes up over your belly to be the most comfy. You are at that tough in between stage when regular clothes don't fit and you are not big enough for maternity clothes. This will change very soon as those babies are growing fast now and your belly is going to get bigger and bigger.

on that note-- what did y'all wear for underwear? awkward question- i am not asking my sister in law who probably sewed her own undies. my regular undies are not especially comfy anymore and bigger size just does not work- the details of that trial are not worth mentioning- i looked at maternity undies and i found huge granny panties, or these weird super skimpy things? is there an in between? not finding much help as my soccer friends don't have kids, i work with men who don't even know i am pregnant and derek would never ask a female coworker about her underwear in a million years!

Congrats on making it this far, you must be excited. Many woman "pop" and it does seem like it is overnight. You go to bed wearing your regular clothes and wake up to find you can't button your pants! There are lots of reasons for this, not just baby size. I am surprised you did not show more earlier, since you are having twins. Most likely that is due to your fitness (wish we all could lay claim to that) now is the time to start finding clothes or maternity wear that suits you. I wore my husbands shorts and t-shirts around the house and as I was a nurse only need to invest in some maternity scrubs. Good luck

It's normal just to pop out sometime. With twins, that will generally happen earlier than for some people. I wouldn't be too concerned.
