Don't argue back. It takes two to argue. Choose your battles wisely. Then state what you want her to do, or give her a couple of options, but then also state the consequence and then follow through with the consequence. No arguing you are the parent.

At 6 and a half? No. At 16, a bit of arguments and disagreements. You are the parent, don't tolerate her arguing with you. Simply tell her "I am your mom, I am the boss, what I say goes" end of discussion. If she continues, then hand down a consequence. If she argues with you now, can you even imagine what she'll be like as a teen?
