RANT: Hand, Foot and Mouth disease

I'm SO ANOYED because my kiddos got the hand,, foot and mouth disease. I'm a military wife and I use hourly care weekly. I'm ptretty sure that's where they got it from. I have no friends or relatives around my area. My husband is in school right now. I work full time teaching. Even though they are with and FCC provider during the week, I take them to hourly care on Sat. so I can run errands.

Anyways, I've used almost all my sick days and personal days, because as we know kids get sick often specially when they are around other children. What upsets me the most is that even though I know hourly care is a need to many military spouses, some parents take their sick kids to the day care with no disregard that they WILL get other children sick. COMON people, have some common sense.

My boy started with a rash around the diaper area, but Sat. came and it was all over his hands, legs, and feet. He was scheduled for hourly care but I did the responsible thing and took him to the clinic. I HAD NO IDEA about this virus, never heard of it before. But again, even though I did not know what it was I did not take the chance of getting other children infected.

There is more to the story, but to keep it short I had to pay for my brother to flight in to watch my kids so I can go to work....

Oh I hear you, this virus is horrendous. I caught it from my little girl a few months ago (she got it from daycare) and I had it badly, with fluid filled blisters everywhere (about 300 on my hands alone, plus soles of feet, mouth, tongue, elbows, ears, you name it). Luckily she didn't get it badly at all and only had a few tiny pinprick spots on her hands for about 3 days.

I still have scars from some of the blisters, 3 months on!

Luckily the daycare had notified all parents when the first kid got sick about 3 weeks prior, so I was clued up on what was happening.

Definitely no fun, but it is contagious before the rash shows up. All of my kids have had it. When my girls were little all their little friends had it at the same time. When my son had it I didn't know any other child w/ it and he was never out of my care. Highly contagious and highly annoying, but thankfully it doesn't last too long.

Yeah. Well, my baby got it first, he probably put some toy in his mouth that was infected by another child with the virus on Sat. and the rash did not come out till Wed. ugh! Kid can be pretty gross...

UGH Isn't it disgusting? My kids had it over the holidays this year. Awful and gross. Everyone at their play group had it (I later found out). It CAN be spread from kid to kid, but it can also be caused by touching themselves and then their mouth. Kids are gross.
To be fair, the virus can spread before the rash breaks out. But it's still gross.
