At which point, I'd have decided my kid's health was more important than my camping trip in the desert...especially if it were near his genitals. So much CANNOT be seen or shown in a photo, I'd never want to depend on one for a diagnosis of my child.

OP, Take your kid to a physician.

OK, not everyone can take their kid to the doctor. I certainly couldn't from the middle of the desert in Arizona where we were vacationing when my son developed his rash.

Oh, yeah, I always depend on an app that I can send pictures to an unknown 'qualified' person somewhere, rather than actually take the time out of my day to be a parent and take my kid to see a real physician in real time that can make a real diagnosis, instead of paying some internet guru...

Take your kid to a doctor. I don't care how much 'time it takes'...you're a parent and this is part of your job.

I use an app called First Derm, www.FirstDerm.com, when I can't get to my doctor. Saves the pain of taking the kids out of school ( and me out of work) to get rashes looked at. You just download the app, take a picture (it's anonymous), and send it to a board-certified dermatologist to review. Costs $40, which is about my copay anyway. I used in on a trip to the desert with my son, who had a rash between his legs.
