Hi every one, thanks for having me in your group. My dilemma is that my grand daughter was diagnosed with RAD and ADHD 4 years ago. She is 11 now. If my family ( middle class regular folks just like you!) cannot get her into a live in treatment program, she will be URNED OVER TO THE STATE!
No Mom and Dad in the picture! She is your classic RAD child. The only thing she does not do is hit people.
She's been on ADHD meds and in counseling for RAD on a somewhat consistent basis over the years. I have been racking my brain looking at many treatment options but as all of you know whom have experienced this the cost factor is unbelievable!@ I've been looking for any and financial resource that may be available. Other then a State institution hospital or STATE mandated group home, There is nothing out there to help My little grand daughter. I'm distraught, sick to my stomach and frankly just don't know what to do at this point. Placing her in an institution isn't going to address her inability to learn to TRUST, SHOW EMOTION OR BEGIN A BONDING PROCESS WITH 1 INDIVIDUAL THAT she can feel loved and supportive for the next 8 years..... I'm getting to old to handle her, but I certainly am not willing to give up on her. All she wants is to be loved unconditionally forever..... The saddest part is my sister is willing to adopt my grand daughter unconditionally! My son will not sign over paper's. HELP!
Unfortunately since the age of 2 this poor little girl has moved around from family member to family member more times then I can count! in and out of counseling and
