My 16 month old daughter is starting to pull her pants and diaper down so i think she is trying to tell me she is ready to start potty training but i worry she is still a bit young and have heard that if u start to early it can make it more difficult in the long run..

Hey there Christine.

It may be that your daughter is trying to express to you that she is ready, but then again, she could just be doing it because she maybe see's mommy do it or another person. Sixteen months isn't too early necessarily, and I've actually heard the opposite. That the earlier, the better. But not every child is the same in potty training, for sure. My daughter is almost three, and we've tried introducing potty training twice. Where as she is growing more comfortable with the idea, she still can't communicate that she needs to go when she feels the need to go. So we've stopped until she can better communicate this to us. Otherwise she will just go in her pull-up or panties. THEN tell us she needs to go. Which isn't going to cut it. Lol.

Is this your first child? Our daughter is our first, and so far, I've learned it's trial and error. You can try to take your daughter to the potty every hour or two, and see if she wants to go. Maybe invest in a toddler potty chair, or a seat attachment for the toilet. Also, maybe some books about potty training, and things like that to keep her occupied during. Unfortunately, this can backfire. As any trial and error could. Our daughter started liking the idea of going to the potty, but solely for the purpose of reading the books, and to get the stickers or a treat for going. She would say she went when she obviously didn't. Things like that. So that's when you can tell, it's probably best to wait. Also, make sure she is comfortable around the big potty if you use it. Like flushing it and such. My daughter hated/hates sitting on the big toilet because she feels off balance, even with a toddler seat in place. -- Needless to say, it's going to be a journey and I wish you luck. Lol.

Oh goodness. You are going to have your hands full. I can't imagine having to take care of another little one AND potty training. My husband would definitely be helping, a LOT. Lol. Our potty that we got doesn't sing or anything, and I'm glad now too, because I know if it did, she would be up there pressing the button non stop. Lol.

My husband and I have actually been planning our second child, or thinking on it anyways. It's pretty much now or never, and I'm so terrified. Lol. I'm so torn between wanting another and then the added responsibility it will mean. Starting all over again... Ugh. I just can't even imagine. Lol. I know it's do-able, but man, it's scary to think about.
