Ready to wean...

i have nursed my son for 15 monthes now , which has been some of the most precious moments i have ever had before, but am now ready to wean. i originally thought i would wait for marco to self wean but it has taken alopt out of me and i seem to be slipping into depression being a single mom the only chance of away time is when i have to attend my classes. Im not being selfish and i realize that WHO reccomends at least two years for a breastfeeding infant. I had begun cutting down feeding during the day so that it is only at bed time, marco is allergic to cows milk ( which i would never even consume myself) hes allergic to all things dairy. i am wondering if i should add formula to soy milk?? or if i even need to add formula at all?

He is 15 months old so should not need formula, however there are formula's out there that are designed for children older than 12 months of age. I do not know if any of these are soy based. If you are concerned I would talk to your doctor or health care provider to see what they recommend . However, your son should be getting most of his nutrition from solid foods.

You have done a great job breastfeeding for 15 months, well done! so don't feel guilty about deciding to wean for your health. Your son needs you healthy and whole, more than your breast milk.
