Reasons for a missed period other than pregnancy?

Alrighty, here it goes. I'm kind of freaking out, lol. I stopped taking Depo about a year ago, I was on it for a year after having my daughter. Ever since, I've never had a regular period... I used to skip months at a time, like I'm talking 3-5 months. Until January came, I had it on the 8th, then in February I started on the 9th but March came and no period yet... I'm SO scared, I am not physically able to carry another child without the risk of being paralyzed (severe back problems), I'm stressing myself out and making myself sick thinking about it. Could that be what's stopping it? Could it maybe also be from losing 15-20lbs in a 2-3 months? I was also stopping and starting birth control. My boyfriend and I have only had sex maybe 5 times since December after not having sex for a year and a half after our daughter was born, and every time I was currently on birth control for at least a week before and we used condoms and even pulled out... Lol, it's like the time you don't want to get pregnant and you use just about every precaution available, you (possibly) get pregnant! I took a test a couple weeks ago, it was negative, but I'm still sketching myself out! Definitely getting the IUD as soon as possible... :(

Hm, I have been noticing some hair loss on the sides of my head near my hairline and I have been under a lot of stress because of the fact that I'm having back surgery in 9-10 months. You answer is actually very helpful, I didn't know stress could cause hair loss! I was wondering why I was losing so much.

Take another test.

Given your history, it could just be that you are not going to have one; however, you mentioned that you were only on birth control for one week before sex, and many types of birth control pills can take up to 4 weeks or more to become completely effective if you don't start at just the right time in your cycle, which could have been difficult given your sporadic cycles, so you were probably not getting much, if any, protection from the birth control.

Stress can cause a missed period, but it's rare and is usually accompanied by other hormonal anomalies such as hair loss, facial hair growth, hot flashes, etc.

Weight loss, to my knowledge is not known to cause a missed period unless you become severely underweight.
