Yes, but it's the other way around. YOU should be the one writing HER a receipt. It's like going to the store. You pay the cashier and they hand you a receipt. (You don't buy something and write your own receipt.) Using a numbered receipt book w/ carbon copy is a simple way to go. Each week when she pays you, give her a signed receipt showing the dates, check # and total $ paid. Tear off the top copy for her and keep the duplicate for your records. At the end of the year, give her a report showing the total payments for 2012. This way, you are both claiming the same amount on your taxes.

You are supposed to file anything you receive as an income. To not claim it would technically be fraud and you could potentially get into a fair deal of trouble for it.

I would keep the receipt and claim it when you file your taxes. She can claim for child care costs and you can claim the extra income :)

Um yes, I would think you have to claim income. It would be a 1099 form. You would pay quarterly. Unless you just want to wait until the end of the year and pay all of it.

I give receipts for the families in my dayhome. But I don't write them every time I get paid. I track it (in Excel) and give them one tax receipt at the end of the year. I'm in Canada and I have to provide my Social Insurance Number and address on each receipt.... that would have very sensitive personal information out there 12 times as much as doing one receipt for the whole year.
