Our daughter has been having recurrent fevers coming and going every 2-3 weeks for the past 5 months. Each episode lasts 3 days where she spikes temps quite high (always in the 39's and once 40) and she spikes every 4-6 hrs the first 24-36 hrs then spikes every 7-9 hrs for the next 24 hrs then spikes every 8-10 hrs until about day 4 where she is quite fine and back to normal, goes back to school, etc. Then the cycle hits again 2 weeks later. No other symptoms are noted during these episodes except the general malaise, no appetite, lethargy associated with fever. Saw our doc last week and sent her for bloodwork. I have mentioned in the past that she snores lots (since a baby) and have often thought she needed her tonsills out. She has had 2 episodes in 5 months of tonsillitis. Our doc has sent a referral for an ENT, but after this episode (only a week from the last episode) I am now starting to think a pediatrician referral would be better. I have a knot in my stomach that something is wrong....I phoned for blood work results and apparently they are normal. I can't help but go there and think leukemia's or lymphomas. WOuld love to hear others' experience with recurrent, unexplained fevers.
