My son is 27 months old and still he is not self feeding....He eats well what ever and how much ever I give but not ready and willing to self feed by himself....he does not like that...I tried a lot and in many ways but he is not at all ready to co-operate with me....he plays with the food with his finger and spoon but not ready to put into his mouth...He just want to play with the food and I have to feed him....Any suggestions and ideas plsss?

Sometimes it is just saying no you need to do it and then not stepping in. My daughter will PREFER me to feed her, but she will feed herself if I don't step in. It is also ok to take the food away if meal time is over and all he did was play with his food. This makes him realize that he needs to eat and that if he just plays with his food no one is going to feed him and he is going to end up hungry....then DO NOT give food or snacks to him between or after the meal if he did not eat his meal. With that being said make sure there are no developmental issues as then you may need to do things differently to work through any developmental delays.

He is past time for doing a lot of his self feeding. I know kids who are younger than him, my granddaughter for one who is feeding herself all kinds of foods be it with fingers or with a fork! You should have been letting him learn this skill at the age of 1. He is never going to learn if you do not let him do it on his own. Sure he will toss a fit or two but he is going for 3 years of age. You need to stop doing it all for him. And just a note: kids who are learning to feed themselves at age one to two will play with their finger foods and spoons because it is natural part of the process of learning. Now, let him feed himself from now on.
