Rejected Parent! Help!

I have 2 adult sons, who are VERY independent and successful. Perfect, right? Not. I am disabled, divorced and not financially "affluent". They express their disappointment by rude and critical comments, as they don't believe in Government benefits. (My lungs and airway were severely damaged in an accident. My illness is inside and I'm not in a wheelchair.) The way they taunt me about my circumstances hurts. They are 28 & 30. Ex-husband does NOT stand up for me. (P.S. Daughter-in-law has a wealthy family who spends a lot of money on my son & family! Daughter-in-law doesn't approve of me.) Depressed and feeling like a rejected parent. Retired Special Education Teacher, yet feeling as though I have never been successful. What can I do?

Take care of yourself. If they can not show you kindness and respect... they are not worth your time. I can only imagine the pain and disappointment you feel w/ them being so horribly behaved, but if they have been told of your condition and they just don't care... I'm not sure what else you CAN do. Hang in there!
