Solids shouldn't be given until 6 months. Babies systems aren't made to deal with it before then. Even until 12 months they should mainly be breastfed or formula fed for their nutrition and solids after 6 months is just for taste and texture.

Agree totally with Michelle. She probably isn't ready for rice cereal. Just keep breastfeeding. Honestly, rice cereal is just replacing nutritious breastmilk with empty calories. 6 months is what is recommended. Wait another couple of months.

Wait until at least 6 months to introduce foods. Even then... food does NOT replace ANY of their breast milk until around 12 months. They need the same amount of milk w/ eating solids as they would need if they weren't. Breast milk has all the calories and nutrients your baby NEEDS for growth and development. Food is just for the fun and learning experience and trying new tastes.

There is a lot of push to steer away from baby cereals as some research has shown they are harmful and, at the least, completely useless fillers... when a baby IS going to be eating some foods things like fruits and veggies are much more beneficial.
